Kia ora, I am a lecturer at MIT where I teach and supervise up and coming counsellors in the bachelor of counseling program. I am an inquisitive and creative individual who enjoys working with people to unpack problem stories and find new ways to create a more preferred story.

Therapy offers a safe space to talk honestly and openly about your challenges and feelings, however brutal it may seem to say out loud. I find that building a trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients is central to my overall approach. For many, it may be your first time and possibly the first good relationship where you feel safe and open to sharing your story.

Joanne facilitates confidential conversations with individuals and couples that opens up space for an exploration of problems, associated trauma (micro or macro) and focuses on what it means to you to reconnect back to self, by using developmental models of therapeutic change. By developing an awareness that when core needs/values are compromised, maladaptive emotional/behavioural patterns are created as a pattern of survival.
